Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre

Located in Range Hills, Kirkee, Pune, the Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre, is a dedicated institution for the aftercare and rehabilitation of Indian Defence personnel who have suffered spinal cord injuries in the line of duty. Established with deep respect for their sacrifices, PRC empowers these brave individuals to lead lives of dignity, independence, and purpose.

OUR TEAM

At Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre, our mission is to ensure the best aftercare and rehabilitation of personnel of the Armed Forces of India (Army, Navy & Air Force), who are medically boarded out, i.e. retired from service, due to Spinal Cord Injury while serving the Nation.

OUR HISTORY

The Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre was envisioned in the aftermath of the 1971 Indo-Pak War, which left 60 soldiers with spinal cord injuries. The concept was inspired by similar rehabilitation centres in the USA - Veterans Home, the UK - Spinal Cord Injury Centre at Stoke Mandeville, Aylesbury, and other parts of Europe.

OUR FACILITIES

We provide free boarding and lodging, physiotherapy treatment, vocational training to prepare the residents to take up employment, access to a workshop with machines for taking up industrial jobs, games, and sports, computer labs, arts and crafts, as well as transportation facilities.
